What HTTPS does is encrypt data as it travels between your computer and the nwhikers server. Since people can read what you say here anyway, without hacking, because all of our posts are public for the world, it's not a huge deal. It really only matters for you password, which should be random gibberish anyway, and maybe your private messages. It's better to use more security and privacy online, but this isn't really a big deal. To reiterate: please use a password manager so every site gets a random, unique password. Not just here but everywhere.
