I don't know if this is the same incident, I kind of doubt it, but this is the most interesting article on an avalanche that ultimately killed eleven on Marmolada in the Italian Alps: Marmolada Avalanche kills eleven climbers
The Alps have had a terrible snow year, sort of like what we had in 2015. Conditions in mid-June looked like those in mid-August at elevation as to snow cover.

Ten people, including nine Britons, are reported to have survived after a huge avalanche swept over them in the Tian Shan mountains in Kyrgyzstan. Footage uploaded on Instagram by Harry Shimmin, one of the people on the trekking tour, showed snow starting to break down a mountain in the distance, before sweeping towards them before forcing the group to take cover as the snow went over the top of them
