As it turned out we were a good 2 weeks too late for making use of the skis we brought.
Smart of us to bring hiking boots as well.
Figuring that the east side would have (somewhat) fewer humans,
is one of the reasons we chose it. That and I'd never been to this side of Mt R.
We hiked up Burrows One on Tuesday. And then walked Huckleberry Ridge.
In the parking lot a woman told us that last week; Chinook Pass had skiers all over it.
So the next morning we headed there.
We did find some large patches of snow: full of soft Sun cups.
So we spent a good 90 minutes yoyo-ing it.
Then Jeanni remembered a long, curving finger of snow up
near the Sunrise parking lot.
I'm quite sure the people stopping along the road watching us boot up.
thought us to be a bit obsessed.
But such is the problem with being OCD'd
