I don't know how rigorous a schedule the Navy maintains for the VR-1355 flights, but it more or less syncs up with the time it takes me to wake up, drive from Kent to Chinook Pass to the end of the Bumping River road, and start the hike up to Cougar Lakes. Including yesterday I've now been given a military fly-over salute three times while in or near the ford of the Bumping about half a mile in on the Swamp Lake trail.
The first time, several years back, I was IN the river and was not expecting to have a pair of relatively-low flying military jets scream overhead - no harm done, but it was an amusing moment. Second time, a couple of years later I was sitting on the west bank of the river putting my boots back on, and yesterday I was maybe 200 yards up the hillside beyond the river. This was around 1:10P and I'd guess I'm fairly consistently at that point sometime between 12:30 and 1:30. All three sightings have been a pair of jets, a few seconds apart.
