70% off is right about where the price should be to begin with. Why is their stuff so expensive?

I'm not sure what you are looking at, but in my experience, OR products are generally competitively priced.

I was at Pacific Trail Days and saw a one layer piece of fabric that was intended as a rain jacket type thing. MSRP was $170. It was on sale for 50% off. It just didn't make sense to me. I was interested in the idea, but I just couldn't justify spending $85 for it.

That sounds like the Helium jacket. Rab makes a jacket with the same Pertex Shield material, MSRP $185. Montane has a Pertex Shield jacket with an MSRP of $170. The Arcteryx equivalent (which uses a GORE-TEX material) has an MSRP of $400. I get that the OR jacket didn't interest you, but $85 was a smoking deal.

I went to this. There was a long line right at opening, and they let in 50 people or so at a time. So we waited a bit. There were some great deals, if you were the right size and weren't picky about color.
