I've been seeing it there this week. It doesn't have a name and shows as just red perimeters on the Chilliwack River drainage.
Ah, OK, thanks. I see it, as well as several other tiny fires, scattered around. This is one of the bigger unnamed fires. Kinda like the best minor leaguer. Once they name it, there is a symbol on the map, and it is easier to find.

Northwest Interagency Coordination Center says: We only report on large fires in the NW. A Large Fire as defined by the National Wildland Coordinating Group, is any wildland fire in timber 100 acres or greater, and 300 acres or greater in grasslands/rangelands, or has an Incident Management Team assigned to it. The fire up Brush creek and the one on Copper Mt have gotten a lot bigger in the last few days. It will probably get a name and more attention soon, if it keeps growing.

And partially for 2023 as well .....
Quote:
The Copper Loop will remain closed through the 2023 summer season, hikers are unable to complete the loop. A portion of the Copper Ridge Trail is open between Boundary and Copper Lake camps. Trail closures are listed in each area drop down area below. Camp closures are listed on the Fire Closures page.

Thanks for sharing this. I was hoping that access to Whatcom would be possible from the east, but it sounds like I'll have to wait until a future season. I bet that Silesia, Egg, and Copper Lake are just as hard to get permits for as ever. It's still a great out-and-back even without the loop option.

Can't tell from the web site. Are they saying Whatcom Pass & Tapto Lakes will be closed all year as well? Didn't think the fire got that high and you'd think they could still be accessed from the east.

Whatcom and Tapto are both closed for the season.
