A hiking partner wanted to get in some higher altitude trails over the spring/summer before her upcoming Peru trip, so she hatched a plan to hit up the Albuquerque area where we could stay @ her sister's house & checked out some stuff in the nearby Sandia Mtns. DAY 1: SD to Yuma We left after work & drove just a few hrs. to Yuma, AZ, where we had dinner & stayed @ a hotel.

DAY 2: Yuma to Albuquerque We continued the drive, stopping @ the BFE Rest Area, through Tucson where we stopped @ a particularly busy Starbucks, had dinner in Truth or Consequences @ a subpar restaurant, & on into Albuquerque.

Ah, this brings back fond memories. My parents lived in Albuquerque for a little while and their property butted up directly to the Sandia Crest. We could hike straight from the back door and into the mountains! Great to see some old stomping grounds again. smile.gif
