Super easy and fun path up. Slabs down were scenic. A lot of tourists from other states including plenty of people inspired by (explicitly) tiktok at colchuck. Woke up to two from the east coast taking larch-colored dress spinning TikToks at sunrise with a DSLR and multiple lenses. So that's why it's so hard to get the lottery I had my pack ready to go on Sunday, but plans changed so I checked rec.gov Monday night before bed on a whim and got my first Bulger
Larches are in their zenith of splendor for a drought year.

Looks like a great trip! I love the views from Little Annapurna. When I hiked up it a couple of seasons ago I had never been to the Teanaway and those mountains seemed a bit puny compared with the Enchantment peaks. I was pleasantly surprised afterwards to do a couple of trips in the Teanaway and see that those mountains aren't puny, Little Annapurna is just huge in comparison. It's neat to see the view of Little Annapurna from the Teanaway, it's way more impressive from the south than from the north where it's a (relatively) gentle walkup .
I have no idea what effect Colchuck TikToks have on visitation and permit competitiveness, I think the place has been crazy competitive for a long time. Before TikToks, Colchuck has been popular on FB and IG. When I was hiking up Aasgard I talked with someone who seemed pretty envious of my permit and mentioned trying in the lottery for the last 13 years with no success. It sounds like we both got lucky with finding permit cancellations this week.
Consider this a public service announcement, but if any of you can drop what you're doing a head to the Enchantments tonight there are 3 people's worth of Core permits starting today available on rec.gov. Winds are going to be pretty extreme tomorrow so if you go be careful.
