They forgot candy cigarettes. So good, mmmmmm and sophisticated.
What's especially fun about sock puppets is that you can make each one unique and individual, so that they each have special characters. And they don't have to be human––animals and aliens are great possibilities

Cheez, I get enough of my kids telling me I am old. I really didn't need that link to 100% remind me of everything that proves it.
Thanks a lot

Really? I didn't think you were that old. Nevermind.

I do recall all of those things but then I already knew that I was officially old, I am reminded every time I hike, or drink or....
We didn't have a McD's in our town but once on a while travelling to a basketball game I ate 7 of those 15 cent burgers after the game, I could also eat 7 large taco's no problem. One thing about getting older, your food costs are usually lower.

JimK and I chatted on the phone last night and as he described several of these, I guessed what they are (ice cream in a toilet paper roll - immediate guess). He got to the paper plate thingy, and I said well, hell, that's not old, I remember using those things in the 1980s.
Then he did the math for me.
Damn, I'm old.

And another thing!
I remember complaining about cars not using words to describe dashboard stuff like Hot, Cold, Vent, etc. and using silly pictures (icons wasn't a widely used word). Took me years to figure out the stupid pictures. To this day, some of them don't make any damn sense. My car might do all kinds of groovy things I have no idea about.

Nevermind cars! How about Windows and any number of misc software updates. My laptop might do all kinds of things I have no idea about. But then I remember dark computer screens and green type, when all we had was words.

Yeah, I remember TYPING long search strings into dBase to get reports. When they came out with mouses and clicking on stuff, I fell apart. I knew what I wanted, and was (still am) impatient with all the silly canned reports that didn't (still don't) give me exactly what I want. And typing commands in DOS.....
And early email (we called them MSGs) at Texas Instruments started with typing onto the top of a DOS screen, MSG.... and the particular 4-letter address. Yours first, then theirs. I remember one address was SEXY. It was a different time.
And we thought we were so cool that we could click Alt Tab to run a second program. Samna was the work processor we used, and dBase.
Damn, I'm old.
