photo of a black bear in sleeping in its den yesterday, wondering what's in front of its nose?

No kidding! This is a high quality photo.
As an aside I always imagined bear dens as deeper. Poor thing must have an awfully cold snout mid-January

the den is much deeper, she/he can turn around inside, someone of fb said that it might just be a regurgitation?

Looks cozy. That looks like a last minute snack right in front of it.

Blacktail Plateau Drive is a 1 way, 6 mile dirt road. The end of that road is just west of that bear den. We had a really cool wolf howling experience at that junction at dusk about 3 weeks ago. Den was occupied

First though was, yea it looks like poop, but more likely regurgitation, unless another bear or animal pooped on his doorstep, although he might have dropped it off in his way into the den, I doubt he would back up and do it, lol... maybe marking his territory?
