Years ago, at least one feature writer for either the Times or the PI was around for a little while, but someone pissed him off and he hasn't been back since.  I can't remember his name; the humor guy. It wasn't funny at the time, but it sorta is now.

I can't believe I missed this post, sorry for my tardy response. I go way back to the old Trail Talk along with some other oldtimers around here. Due to physical issues I don't hike as much as I used to, and when I do it's usually a day hike to a lake. But I poke my head in every once in a while. Hope everyone is doing well.

Ron Judd. He was a Times humor writer who used the outdoors as one of his many backdrops. I think someone here dissed him, after mistaking his column as serious hiking advice, given by an unqualified lightweight.
