Some times they barricade the road and post signs stating one can be fined for going past the closure, not sure if that's the case there. Up here in North Idaho the main road heading north from highway 57 at near Granite Pass has a really bad washout and is barricaded with signs stating something to the effect that one could be fined up to 5k for walking past the closure and 10k for doing so on a motor vehicle. I went cross country not on the road for about 3/4 in order to check out the closure, I imagine that's not illegal...yet. I guess one reason for the closure and possible fines is that if someone started a fire and it got away it would be difficult for firefighters to access. Another reason is I suppose they don't want people to get injured. The washout is really bad but one can still get through easily on a bike or smaller 4 wheeler. So it goes..

It’s closed to vehicle traffic. That’s not really hard to understand

I don't think people have a hard time understanding that. What people are asking about is the timing. Closed for the rest of the summer? Closed for a few more weeks? Closed permanently?

I wonder why in some cases they post signs warning of fines for travelling past the closure and some they don't? The one I mentioned states a 5K fine for going beyond the barricade on foot, bicycle, etc and 10k for doing so on a motor vehicle.

The Wenatchee river and tributaries are brown and full of runoff. There has been daily thunder/rain storms contributing to all of this. Today is the first dry day.

I was dispersed camping nearby on the Little Wenatchee last week and the mosquitos sucked! Then went to the White River Falls campground and they were bad there too! Even Icicle Creek at Rock Island they were bad, but not nearly as bad as at the Little Wenatchee! Can't imagine that Chiwawa drainage would be any better. The 1967 1st edition of "Trips and Trails- Camps, short Hikes and Viewpoints in the North Cascades and Olympics" by EM Sterling and the Spring bros was spot on in their description of the area on the Little Wenatchee near where we camped by noting that the Soda Springs campground has "...Mosquitos, usually..." And 56 years later, it's still accurate (though many of the campgrounds they describe no longer exist)! I love old guidebooks!

They need to find funds. I bet it will be fall or more likely next spring before it’s clear and graded.
