If you are hammering in a rebar spike or 2 to support a step... how long do you make the rebar? Thanks.

When I have made box steps in WTA, they are generally 2-3 feet long. Depends a lot on what you're pounding them into. If soft soil, longer is better..... cool.gif

Whatever length you settle on, be sure to subtract 1/2 inch because that's the part that sticks into my heel.

fixity of a cantilivered pile is typical 20x diameter. so, if you have #4 bar (1/2), that's 10" embed. that seems too low to me. i would make the embed depth at least 2x the height of the step. i suspect you would be fine getting 2ft long bars.

I have used 2’ on the steps in my back yard.
