This was found during a trail project in Woodinville - the Greenbrier Trail Refurbishment. What is it?

An old fire tube boiler.

You can see the tubes in the left hand photo. I briefly managed an apartment building heated with fire tube boiler. The tubes had to be regularly cleaned out with wire brush, similar to cleaning a firearm.

Would that have been dumped there? I don't remember any buildings near that area 50 years ago or more.

Yeah...it was probably dumped there. There is a lot of other trash being uncovered under blackberry patches that seem to abound there. The City will probably have to make a concerted effort to remove all the trash. When we're doing work parties there, we're just making a pile near the boiler for ( hopefully ) future pickup. I imagine they'll leave the boiler as it'd be pretty difficult to move and it makes a nice feature....

I believe that is part of an old "steam donkey". Used to pull logs to a central loading point for train or truck shipment.

there is a horizontal steam engine at the old abandoned anacortes mine in hells basin it was used to haul the mine equipment to the site and run the mill. there is also a 4 stamp mill, conical ball mill, and 12 inch jaw crusher.

I saw this yard ornament while driving outside of Weippe, Idaho today.
