Hoist Rescue from Cache Couloir by Snow Lake.
Quote:
Guardian-2 responded to Snoqualmie Pass, where a snowboarder got swept down Cache Couloir by Snow Lake, and got injured. King County Deputies, trained as rescue specialists, and Medic 1 Paramedics were hoisted down to treat and extract the patient. He was stabilized and transported to Harborview Medical Center for further treatment.
I looked on Turns All Year for any posts, but didn't find anything.

Some friends were first on the scene and stabilized the victim. Apparently he popped a slab and got carried over cliffs.

I had heard about this accident at NWAC recent observations. It does not take a very big slab to carry you and injure you, or worse, in steep terrain above cliffs or trees (or into lakes as was the case of one of Trudeau's brothers).

This was in the NWAC forecast and all over social media last week. The TAY site is all but dead, but there is a lot more activity in the TAY Facebook group.

Here is the observation from NWAC. I stay in bounds so don't know much about backcountry routes. Is this a popular one? Seems like a number of people were around. *** Was skinning across snow lake around noon and heard yelling from a solo skier at bottom of cache couloir. Found him with injuries where he couldn’t stand, and found out he had been skinning from the divide on benches above the cache couloir and triggered a slide that swept him over cliffs into the cache. Our party of 5 split with myself going to the divide to call SAR and the other 4 staying with the skier to keep him warm and assess injuries. Multiple parties that came upon the scene or found me at the divide helped out by sharing emergency warmth equipment, building a snow wall for the wind (wind chill on the lake was frigid), relaying the message that help was on the way, and assisting the heli team by building a platform for the injured skier to be hoisted by. Skier was air lifted at about 345 pm and is in stable condition according to the news. He was swept over up to a 100 foot cliff and likely broke bones in pelvis and back.

ALSO--don't mean to hijack but does anyone know about a fatality at Alpental a couple weeks ago? Nothing in the news, but I have heard 2 different versions of what happened on the chairlift.

Glad those crews are out there. But hope I never need them!
