Had a great trip, and will do a write up soon…but these marks on trail had us baffled. Consistently about 500 feet or so we’d find one—for a good couple miles. The really weird thing is NO prints in the snow crossings between markings. Aliens maybe?

My guess is cougar territory markings. From what I have read, they will urinate and then cover up the urine with a small pile of duff.
That makes so much sense! The only print we did find appeared to be cat

I really appreciate your wisdom Hesman (is there a way to tag people on here?), and mentioned you in my story. Hope you like it! Thanks again smile.gif https://kellbell-whywouldanyonereadthis.blogspot.com/2023/04/bit-by-bit-and-thankfully-we-didnt-get.html
