I always spot at least a few before St. Patricks Day. Still not a one here. I thought I heard an Osprey, but didn't see it. Strange weather. (Especially south of here) B

I have seen six so far out of a couple dozen by this time and no wrens . A couple of collared doves.

Saw a few swallows over my place last Wednesday, but none since the rain and cold moved in. I will probably see more tomorrow if it clears up enough. Have had rufous hummingbirds at the feeders since the 15th.

Interesting you bring this up. Yes! This morning on the river. I was wondering when I was going to see them. As a avid fly angler, it's a welcome sighting.

No swallows or Rufous hummers yet on Bainbridge. First Salmonberry have begun to bloom, so any day now?

~ March 15 is the beginning of Roufus watch around here (Tiger/Tayor valley south of Issy), but none yet. The Annas are plenty busy squabbling amongst themselves. We have barn swallows that nest in the............barn, but they're usually a bit later to arrive.

Yes. Gold bar area.. The a few that roost in our soffit every year got here Monday. They stay until the chicks fly off, then are gone by early summer. Our neighborhood houses a rather robust population. Fun sitting on the patio and watching them. I keep forgetting to build a swallow house. I'd like to have a colony.

I have not seen any yet around the north end of Lake Tapps. Normally have a couple of Violet-Greens that move into my bird house.

Always enjoy seeing the barn and tree swallows return but no sightings yet near Redmond Watershed. Ground is a bit white this a.m. Starting later this spring we can sit on the deck and watch the swallows drink on the fly from a small pond in the pasture. The barn swallows also land in the garden and get dirt to build their nest. Sometimes when I am out in the pasture I have my own private fighter jet escort with swallows in a orbit around me. Very cool. And we have very little problem with mosquitoes.

Woohoo! Finally spotted a nice large flock over Juanita Bay this morning! Oh, Happy Day!!!! breakdance.gif Also, it was great to wake up to the sound of songbirds while snow camping in the Teanaway the other morning! Warblers, Nuthatches and Mountain Chickadees (one of my favorite local birds)! You just know it's going to be a good day! B

Saw a vulture today. Couple weeks late this year like everything else.
