This will probably be the situation, both summer and winter, for the next several years there until they can rebuild the entire new lodge.
I wonder how early you will have to get there to be one of the lucky 315 vehicles that get to drive up the road? And some folks will show up early hoping to get a spot only to be turned away after sitting in their car for a few hours.
Are they going to allow unlimited ebikers up the road?

But ours doesn't stink, so it doesn't count.

I will definitely not be waiting in line. I've heard of them going one-in-one-out, not sure how many parking spaces there are. They also have buses that go up there- I wonder if they will get priority.

The busses don't count against the car limit. As for Obstruction Point; the vehicle count will occur at the gate, not at the parking lot so yes, access to OP by car will also be limited.
As for whether it's reasonable or not, I am surprised a sensible person would even counter such a question given that it is 2024 and the NPS has a well-established pattern of restricting access to heavily trafficked sections of multiple Parks.

I’d lean towards barest, most minimalist temp expenditures and leaving maximum for permanent facility.
