Hopefully, it is still too early, but relative humidity is very low and temps are quite high. This lightning complex is described as being substantial by the NWS Seattle. This affects BC Wednesday-Thursday.
Quote: | Now for the possible
big show. If you are a photographer you might want to position
yourself somewhere safe with a good view of the Cascades. As
mentioned the air mass destabilizes quickly in the afternoon. Some
models now showing surface based CAPE values as high as 2500
J/KG. Numbers we rare see in this area. Lifted indexes are quite
low especially over the Cascades with values in the -3 to -5 range
by 00z. Convective temperatures off of the soundings are all
below the forecast high temperatures for the day. The question
will be how much moisture will there be with a low coming up for
the southeast. Given the very unstable air mass it will not take
much moisture to produce some convection especially over the
Cascades. Forecast has a chance of thunderstorms for the Central
and Southern Cascades by late afternoon.
Unstable air mass continuing into the evening hours Monday. Winds
in the 700-500 mb layer easterly 10 to 20 knots. This would push
any convection that forms over the Cascades out into the lowlands.
Normally the air mass over the lowlands in fairly stable making it
hard for the storms to survive as they come off the mountains.
This will not be the case Monday evening giving the storms a way
better than normal chance of surviving. Have the mention of
thunderstorms Monday evening as far north as Everett and as far
west as Shelton. |

What's especially fun about sock puppets is that you can make each one unique and individual, so that they each have special characters. And they don't have to be human––animals and aliens are great possibilities

It was +90 with a really good breeze in the foothills today. I had plans to burn some non compostable invasives but it seemed like a bad idea. You could just feel that hot dry air sucking the moisture out of everything. One more day of that followed by lightning?.... eeek!

Just got home from Longmire and saw numerous lighting strikes south of Alder Lake and south of Eatonville area. Raining pretty hard in spots. Hoping for a light show tonight. Felt like Colorado in the park today as it switched between intense heat and then cooled off substantially as thunderheads moved in.

Was noticing that the low elevation hillsides are still green--that's a good thing. Cheat grass is still green. Good thing. Just a couple of unimpressive thunder rumbles this afternoon. It looked worst to the NE of the Okanogan area.
No worries yet.

This was posted a little while ago by the National Weather Service. It seems awfully early for this kind of weather action

Watched a good light show heading home from granite to verlot....then a few minutes ago went out to close my old truck window, saw a big flash and then a big boom, skeered me pretty good, lol...reminded me of my ND days, when it sounded like a war was going on.

We had a good long downpour in addition to the thunder and lightning, much appreciated!

NWS Seattle Discussion: Quote: | .SHORT TERM /TODAY THROUGH THURSDAY/...Between 1 pm Monday and 2
am Tuesday there were about 1300 lightning strikes in Western
Washington from Lewis County northward and 4300-4400 cloud
pulses. |
Some of these could have been problematic in areas that have already been fairly dry. Lightning maps.org 24 hour lightning

Thunderstorms should be kicking up in the Cascades today.
