A trip to Lewis starts with a Cal Mac ferry from Ullapool. (150pds Car + 2 people)
To Stornoway
We spent 2 days there in a Hostel.
On Sundays everything (except churches) shuts down.
So we figured this would be a good day to do Clismas.
As we were driving out. The fog was lifting.Sun showing itself. No wind.
Great!
Then a half mile from the TH: this happened.
The fog came back. The wind blew at 20 to 25mph. And the rain came down: sideways.
(which is the only way I think it ever rains in Scotland)
And it never let up!
There really isn't any real path here. Just boggy traces of something to follow.
By the time we reached the ridge. We were soaked to the skin (gore tex only works for so long)
After an hour and a half and 3 foggy false summits we could go no higher.
Coming down was mostly a matter of just going down....
After some 'wandering around' we were quite happy to see the car.
When we drove by it the next day it looked like this
Figures.

For some day that will be true.
