Bothy's, were homes of sheep herders for centuries. Now they are maintained by the: MOUNTAIN BOTHY ASSOCIATION. Free to use on a first come.First serve basis. This one is off the road that runs through Glen Coe
To get here we walked on what once had been a Drovers Path. (The Clann's would walk cows (mostly stolen from other Clanns) to market on these roads.
On the way we pasted by this 17th century Watch Tower (They were on the lookout for raiders) We thought we would escape the rain: Wrong rolleyes.gif
After 90 minutes we arrived.
We had it to ourselves until about 2200 when 3 guys, who had been climbing the 3 local Monro's, popped in:Tired from 12 hours of trying to find their way in "awful weather". We gave them fuel for their stove. Everyone slept well.

Lonely area. Did you make excursions, e.g. Rannoch Moor? Beautiful especially in the rain. BTW that is Achallader Castle. Figured in the intrigues that lead up to the Glencoe Massacre.

We were in Rannoch Moor last year. And I hiked though it 5 years ago. I find that area to be very 'drawing' on my Spirit.
