I was thinking of bagging Green Mountain or Rooster Mountain (The Ark) up the Middle Fork Snoqualmie valley here soon. Just wondering if anyone has been up either of those peaks recently and has a report/photos of conditions. Thanks!
It was great! Can't add much to my (short) report. If the steep snow happens to be icy when you go, you'll want crampons. No big streams to cross or anything. The lakes along the way are really pretty too.
This information is a bit dated, but we were up on the ridge leading to Rooster on April 25, about 3 weeks ago. I would estimate the snow was about 6' deep at the crossing of the creek in the basin near the Cockerel Point junction, and probably more like 10' deep (or more) up on top of the ridge.
This was before all the recent heat and springtime consolidation. Assuming it melts / consolidates about a foot or two per week, the area in the lower basin (3600') might be getting close to melting out, and there should still be plenty of snow up high, and under tree cover.
Here are some pictures from that trip.
