Definitely agree we shouldn't be second guessing this hiker. We have no info regarding his experience level or preparedness. The idea that he shouldn't have been there solo or in January is completely wrong. The peaks in the area all have winter ascents and ski descents. All the reasonable couloirs and most of the unreasonable ones have been skied, climbed or both. While some things are beyond most of our skill or comfort levels doesn't make it wrong. There are people who enjoy quiet solitude in the mountains, even in winter. We get trip reports from people doing the winter Bulgers or other things that are pretty far out there for most of us and we don't criticize but rather congratulate them on there accomplishment.

It's not really a loop.

Calling a trail a loop when it is not, is not a grammar error. Just a factual error.

It's been a loop every time I've done it. Of course the loop consists of several named trails and two roads, none of which is named "Enchantment Loop Trail".

You can ensure a loop by completing it, but you can't necessarily insure it. You can board it in winter, but that would be bordering on crazy in summer.
