Awhile back Tom showed me his A16 Bug Bivy. His didn't have as much room as the photo used by many vendors (link below). The moderator of www.thru-hiker.com thought maybe Tom got a bad one, but I recently picked one up. Mine is the same as Tom's. While it will keep the bugs off your face and shoulders, there's not as much room as the photo suggests. The person in that photo must have a very small head. I think you might be better off with a 6 oz. piece of breathable DWR fabric (which would also keep dew off your bag) or No-See-Um and a little imagination. I just bought a bug tent made by MSR called a Bug Hut 1. I got it at REI for just under $40. It weighs in at 1 lb and has more room than a bivy so less claustrophia factor. It does not have a floor so the ground would have to be flat where it is used. It can only sleep one person though. I haven't done a road test for it yet.
