Finally got my new Montrail Torre GTX dirty this last weekend. Were great. Felt light as a feather with no blisters etc. Good traction. Nice fit. Glad I got em.
As for the socks, well, I wore a pair of Russel Athletic work socks from Costco. From the 12 pack. They worked as good as any Smartwool I have worn. No sweat. No heat build up. No bunchin' up either.
Might give em a try. 12 for about the price of 1 Smartwool.
