Eric....thanks for your continuing reports on lookouts and location. Kloshe Nanich is a great example of a lookout gone wrong. It is a damn shame that the replica was vandalized so badly that it had to be removed. So many lookouts have gone down this path and it continues to sadden me.
Your documentation of these places is an important endeavor and I'm grateful for your efforts. Keep up the good work, reports etc. Many alohas!!

Rudo Fromme is the person standing before Kloshe Nanitch Lookout in this ca. 1921 photo. As Supervisor of Olympic NF from 1911 to 1925, Fromme planned and helped build much of our trail system.

When I visited this winter, I was impressed (?) that someone had managed to kick apart the outhouse door and tried to use it for a bonfire. The vandalism there must span generations by now.
I was planning a visit in three weeks time when I heard it had been removed. I wish the USFS has asked people what they wanted or how it could have been saved, rather than just taking it down.
