I just saw a post on facebook urging Seattleites to buy their snow shovels now. Every time there is a snow event there, snow shovels sell out. My question. Do you throw them away afte winter is over? What happens to all those snow shovels?
What's especially fun about sock puppets is that you can make each one unique and individual, so that they each have special characters. And they don't have to be human––animals and aliens are great possibilities

It must be the millions of people fleeing California that are buying them.

This place which is not close to Seattle, came with several snow shovels. Since all looked like torture devices, I advertised them on the local website as free and they were snatched up. I brought my own stuff with me but not from California. The Yooper Scooper did come from Wisconsin and was made in the U.P.
Apparently the Seattle home sellers do not leave snow shovels for the Californians.

Seattle law requires people to shovel the sidewalks in front of there home and business within 12 hours of the last snowflake or suffer a fine starting at fifty dollars for homeowners and two hundred fifty for businesses.

Meh, just toss it. Gets in the way in the summer months. These things are supposed to be disposable anyway. Just buy a new one if need be.

We had a similar discussion last Winter. The consensus was that today's snow shovels are so cheaply made (true) that they usually break and are thrown away. the answer to no having to buy a snow shovel every year was to purchase a grain shovel for snow removal, which is much more durable. (true).
Plus with all the people moving here from CA, the demand will be greater than the supply.

Ok, better take down this thread also.
I thought last year's was what kind of snow shovel do you use, not where they disappeared to during the off season.

Used ours to shovel bark dust in summer, have had it for years. The last one I lost was shoveling church parking parking lot at another nwhikers wedding.

Touchy, touchy, cabin fever already kicking in? I edited my post to read "Similar discussion last winter"...I will attempt to be more PC in the future, my apologies.
When we get powder, I use a shop push broom.

Maybe they get broken during spring glissades? They are also good for fanning a reluctant barbecue.
