It was a gorgeous day. Droughts are like that I guess. It was cold in the morning but a bit of sun warmed things up. There weren't any flowers out, but the birds were more obvious and a few colorful moths kept circling my hat. Maybe blue fleece is the closest thing to a flower. I was only up there for a dayhike but it looks like an overnight wouldn't be too difficult. There was a bit of snow around and the lake is frozen but there must be an open campsite somewhere. I know that enough of the day-use area was snow-free to pitch a tent. But of course we wouldn't do that, would we? Go for it but be warned that I had to hike for an hour and a half to get to the trailhead. The mudslide still blocks the road. I'd rather have a longer hike to the lake than have to trudge back out to get a tow-truck. I also watched a pickup carefully and successfully drive over the slide. Make up your own mind.
