Had to get out one more time before the winter weather sets in. I've been up the Killen creek trail one other time with my sister on Labor day a few years ago but only went the first few miles. I wanted to do an overnight at the high camp and walk up near the Glacier. No arduous striving for a summit this time, just a relaxing couple days in the mountains.
Slept in the back of my truck Friday night at the trailhead to get an early start and have most of Saturday to make it to the glacier. It's a very quiet trail this time of year and that's just what I was hoping for. Skies were clear all weekend with just a mild amount of wind but had planned for this and camped in a very sheltered spot so I wasn't disturbed and could get a good nights sleep up there. Had a tasty chicken fried rice tuna avocado dinner, enjoyed the sunset and said goodbye to the 2023 summer hiking/scrambling season, looking forward to many more in the future.
Lovely meadows
Set up a nestled camp spot before hiking up to the glacier
View from camp
Mt. St. Helens
I did have to filter water as I only brought 2 liters with me so a trip to the glacier was very necessary for survival

Lenticular or just a mountain hat?
Couldn't stop turning around on the way out
