Earlier this week, Yong was working out at the club and preparing for tomorrow's grand opening. He'd just returned from a trip in which he took 10 local players for a two-week trip to watch the world championships and train in his native China. The Chinese dominated the championships, winning every title in singles and doubles. That didn't surprise Yong, who knows firsthand what top-notch competitors they are. At the age of 16, Yong was the Chinese junior national champion -- the best youth in the most populous nation on Earth. ...... The Washington Table Tennis Center is at 1454 127th Place N.E. in Bellevue. The grand opening is tomorrow. The center is open every day 11 a.m.-10 p.m. Information: www.yiyongfan.com; 425-462-5030.

I like to play, but my skills are pretty limited. A former co-worker and I used to play doubles with a couple others every day at lunch. We would almost always get trounced as a couple of them had played in college, but it was alot of fun. We bought these expensive paddles at the Paddle Palace, and I even bought a couple world championships videos, but having a nice paddle doesn't improve your game so I learned. hmmm.gif I think one could pick up alot of skill at a place like that mentioned in the article. Do you play at all, wooly?

I have played for years but I never seem to get any better. Maybe I should go to that table tennis center and get some instruction. I really like the game and it is good for the reflexes. If you are ever in Kitsap County we play at the pavilion at the fair grounds on Tuesday and Thrusdays from 6:00 to 10:00 pm.
