What's the best possible thing to do when relying on a (flammable) parachute to get you to terra firma? That's right! Shoot a flare gun!

It had me goin' there for a minute. I was thinking "this is sick" (as I waited to see what would happen.) 'Be a heck of a note to have your reserve chute tangle in the leftovers of the chute you just incinerated.

I used to have that same helmet for jumping. Most chutes have the main canopy tied into the reserve, so that if you have to goto plan "B" the main chute acts like a pilot chute to help deploy the reserve. Then, the main is cut away. In the case of the video, He just used a normal sport rig with a cut-away. Pull one cord, it releases 3 rings and disconnects your main. Its upto you to pull the reserve, unless you get below 2000' and the AAD fires. biggrin.gif
