I haven’t seen Bob since last year, but he is back. Once again my geriatric old tabby spotted it first, and really wanted to go defend his territory. Now if I could get Bob interested in all the moles……..

H. Hound--great photos and I'm glad I am not the only one that gets to enjoy having these most beautiful creatures around to watch! We've been lucky enough to see one of the two resident bobcats (1 large male, 1 smaller female) pass through our immediate yard area stalking around the bird feeder areas or just passing through 8 times now just since Christmas alone. The large male even used one of the huge rocks we have to rest atop, nap, and wait for some squirrel or bird to come along unsuspecting. A great treat...right out the kitchen window. Usually they pass through our acreage to just get to our ravine and pass on up the mountain, but not this winter. Thanks for sharing.

Oh so lucky. Nice shots. Newt

In Canada we lose 3200 bobcat a year to trapping. Trapping is dying out up north though - not enough money in it. An uncle of mine used to run a trapline in the Omenica Region in old days and barely made a profit then but nowadays can't pay for snowmobile fuel even. Good thing too, better jobs in mining/forestry anyway. Beautiful animal, nice pics smile.gif

Ha, you know it was tempting as they are so friendly looking actually. I was hoping to capture this one get rid of one of the nasty winter-invading eastern grey squirrels that we get even out here. But no luck...and now that the warm weather has the native Douglas Squirrels back and happy again it's strange that the grey squirrels are gone. I'm not complaining! It was tempting to let the border collie out to see what she thought of Bobby the Bobcat...but I'd feel bad if we stopped seeing them due to side-stepping our property due to the dog. So we just watched from inside the house: gentle reassuring voice commands of "goooood Bobcat, gooood bobcat" to the dog got her to just sit down and watch with interest, and not bark. Goooood border collie smile.gif up.gif Oh, and you should have seen the eyes on this bobcat really pop open wide when a flicker happened upon the suet feeder that you see in the one zoomed-out image. WIDE OPEN eyes staring at it...bird left pretty quickly after in a lot of noise.

I've heard said that you can expect 1 in 100 photos to be a keeper. You've got some there. up.gif
