Hey, anyone in the general Ballard area have one I can borrow? The folks I'm housesitting for generously are going to let me divide and steal some of their bamboo, but it's pretty good sized and they warned me it will be hard to dig up. TIA.

Planning on making a new fly rod or a nifty addition to the household flora?

Good call. I'd surely bamboozle ( lol.gif ) a do it yourself fish'in stick. Anyway, back on subject. I have no experience with the task, but I found this Googlage that suggest a sharp spade: Link to Bamboo Propagation Good Luck!

Running or clumping
Is the bamboo the running or clumping type? If it is the running type you may want to put a below soil line barrier around it unless you have lots of room to let it spread or its not too near a property line.

I discussed this with the owner of the bamboo, and it's clumping. It's been in a while so I can see how aggressive it is.
