On the first day of spring I SS'd a few miles up Salmon la Sac creek (Jolly Mtn trailhead starting at Cayuse Horse Camp).

I followed some faint skier tracks to the point where the summer trail crosses the creek. I stayed on the north side of the creek and climbed to the ridge between Paris and Salmon la Sac creeks. That ridge was my playground for about an hour while I tracked through untouched snow.

Three Valleys

Then back down to follow a groomed SS trail to Salmon la Sac CG across the Cle Elum River.

I then passed Salmon la Sac CG and headed to the Cooper River trail which leads to Cooper Lake. I only went far enough to get a couple shots of the river.

It was a five mile day which is enough for me on Snowshoes. It was cloudy but not too cold and I had complete solitude. This equates to a good day for me.
