Great hike for kids. There are some steep cliffs beyond the 1.5 mile mark. I went further without Josh and Mania to about 3-3.5. Lake was nice and good for swimming. Trail is brushy or flowery and worse past the 2 mile mark. Flowers are peak right now. With fields and fields of color and sweet smells!

Nice pics Tazz! I think that is the most weight I have seen Mania carry - must have been multi-day. Did his back survive? lol.gif Don

Nice shots! The loop is a good hike smile.gif Ford and me did it a couple years ago..Synchro was kayaking the lake, and met us halfway, and we had lunch at the inlet stream.

lol.gif Don! yeah Josh is a bit heavy but I didn't want the klutz to hike along the drop off areas. Soooo Mania had to haul him! biggrin.gif Josh was not too happy either. That's OK because when I went further on Mania let him hike all the way back. paranoid.gif thanks smile.gif sarbar the loop looks really nice but we got there after noon so just the lake trail worked out. It would be nice to get up on that ridge. Nice trail! Thanks!

NICE HIKE
I remember 6 or so years ago that trail was not so brushy but it gets bad in the back of the lake. The flowers look good. Did you see any elk or deer. I always see them in there.

yeah it is overgrown with flowers and grasses. More at the end of the lake than the beginning. Some spots you have to push your way though the sweet peas. The first mile is the best. That is about as far as most folks go. I did not see deer or elk. However, sadly the first 50' of the trail this poor elk/deer met his demise right on the trail frown.gif . It looked like maybe a young elk because the fur was darker and longer than I have seen on a deer.
