Second (or third) that: if my g/f liked dogs, I'd say yes. Met someone hiking w/ her dog this past weekend, and having grown up with them, it really reminded me how much I miss having a dawg by my side. This must be hard on you.

Ok, I can't resist any longer. How is he with other animals? Is he good with other dogs and cats? Here's the potential deal breaker on my end - is he stable around other critters - goats, chickens...
Buster (the avatar dog) loves pretty much any animal and is just happy to have another warm body to herd around. Finnegan, a brittany spaniel, tends to be jealous of other dogs but he comes around in a day or so. So introducing a new dog to the pack isn't a problem. We have a fenced in kennel attatched to the house and use the pasture for a doggy playground before letting the critters out in the morning so they all get exercise.
Chubbyhubby and I both work out of the farm, so someone's pretty much always here for supervision and scritches.
