If the point is that when you play with wild animals you might get killed, we get that point. It's drilled into our heads. We know the pitbull story.
I think Irwin and Treadwell differ in that Irwin completely knew he was dealing with dangerous creatures. Treadwell acted like he was dealing with stuffed animals - little cutesy things he could call "Downey" and the like. Treadwell was really not in his right mind.
If you're saying that to deal closely like that with wild animals is stupid, dump, ridiculous, etc., then why not question a lot of other high risk behavior that could be considered the same? Some people think climbing up mountains is pretty stupid.
