I'll spare everyone the long drawn out epic tale of tackling a beast such as Annette Lake...
To sum it up, two syllable words can describe the afternoon. Goretex, raindrops, mudholes, snowflakes, snowbombs, Yaktrax, headlamp.
Booted it up, no snowshoes, just a good hat
BTW- This may be last time this season before the avy crossings become unsafe. Only 2ft there now, but it's going to rain all week and 6k snowline mid week.. do the math.

The bare tangle of brush in the foreground and the dirty slope across the lake just says "November."

isn't this an ee cummings poem, or perhaps a japanese limerick or irish haiku, or words to a bob dylan song or sumpin?

Quoted in typical Quarkarian form
Quote: | japanese limerick or irish haiku |
snow and rain drop from the sky
wind takes leaves off trees by and by
sublime fall to winter twilight
I wonder a muddy path tonight
wooly socks comfort weary feet
a squirrel hides in retreat
arrive the trailhead car at last
no ticket, had a NW Forest Pass!
