I've only been in the high country around Rainier in the latest parts of the summer. I have a buddy coming up from Portland for the weekend. What kind of foliage/bugs/critters should I expect to see in the Sunrise/Grand Park/Klapatche Park areas? Is Sunrise ever green?
I was up at Sunrise on friday-still a good chunk of snow, but the wildflowers are just popping out If you don't mind traversing some snow, you'll hit areas melted out-Grand Park is still under snow though. PS: expect skeeters anywhere in Rainer right now-I got to see clouds of them last week on 3 trips to Rainer! I'd say the snow level is between 5500 ft and 6,500 ft right now-depending on how shaded it is.
