Did a wander through Washington's opportunities and it seemed it was all trail maintenance. While living in New Mexico I enjoyed things like removing fences, creating animal corridors, blocking ATV access, documenting effects of cattle grazing, over use by humans, etc. Anything like that here in my home state?

Contact the ranger districts or NP stations directly. They have several opportunities for volunteer work. There is a Volunteer link on their websites, too.

Might be best to contact your nearest/favorite national park or forest directly, and inquire about volunteer opportunities? They all have volunteer programs. So do state and county parks. Might also check out NFF, NWIA, Earth Share, MTS, CLC, Nature Conservancy.
