I just made it back from E.WA, (Banks Lk) and the Emergency Broadcast System came on the Mosses Lake radio station I was listening too warning about a severe t-storm/hail storm. First time I've ever heard that break in on the radio. I had listened to NOAA on my Ham radio, so I knew some thing was going on. I passed just N of the storm as it was tracking SE. Hope everyone is ok!
First NOAA said quarter size hail, then ping pong ball, then golf ball size hail with winds gusting 60-70mph. They were warning people to take shelter, stay indoors and away from windows. Sounds like a nasty storm.
I had a weird micro burst 2 nights ago (10pm) on Banks Lake. It went from dead calm to 50 mph winds in about 2 mins. I've never seen wind come up that quick! It was crazy, my tarp went airborne and everything came crashing down. Waves were 3 ft. high on the beach. It blew for about half hour and then calmed right back down. If anyone was out on the lake in a small boat they would have been in serious trouble.

Here are some pictures of a couple of tornado's we had to run from on the way home from a camping trip to Lake Wentachee. We were doing well over 80 when most of the pictures were taken between Wilbur and Creston, Washington about 3pm. Scared the crap out of us, we probably missed the twisters by about a quarter mile.

Ditto on the wow! Those are incredible pics. I don't see anything on our local Seattle news about any damage, so hopefully they passed over uninhabited land. Run cows run!

Great photos, though quite scary.  Growing up in the mid-west I am no stranger to twisters. The fact that the funnel clouds are dark indicate that they are moving along the ground. White funnel clouds have yet to make contact with earth.
If the sequence of pic is chronological, it appears that the two twisters were running their course. They can break down as fast as they appear. They can also travel up to 70 mph and change course on a dime. It is not a good idea to try to out run one of these things. Here are some quotes from the following link:
If a Warning is issued or if threatening weather approaches:
In a home or building, move to a pre-designated shelter, such as a basement.
If an underground shelter is not available, move to an interior room or hallway on the lowest floor and get under a sturdy piece of furniture.
Stay away from windows.
Get out of automobiles.
Do not try to outrun a tornado in your car; instead, leave it immediately.
Who's Most At Risk?
People in automobiles
The elderly, very young, and the physically or mentally impaired
People in mobile homes
People who may not understand the warning due to a language barrier

Glad everything turned out well for you. Don't mean to preach but for others on this board that may encounter a similar situation, the above link is from NOAA. It is a quick read and may help avoid a disaster.

Nice shots TJ! Teri and I just got back from the Teanaways and drove right through it near Moses Lake. It was a big storm. The freeway was like a river bed.

Wowzers! Some folks spend a lot of money traveling the mid-west every summer chasing tornado shots that close and clear! And here they are in Washington state! Oh man, that is too close! Here's a news report about the storms:

I don't know my eastern Washington, so maybe they're talking about somewhere else, because those are clearly tornadoes. I'd suggest sharing those pics and location details with the weather service.

reported. Further investigation will be undertaken with any findings
made available as soon as possible.
