Help!! If I hike up Mt. Peak one more time I'll be ill (all over the masses of people)! I need some help finding more dayhikes within 45 minutes drive time of the Tacoma-Puyallup area. Summers I spend at Rainier, but my daughter and I need some good spring hikes. Any ideas??

I would hit a used bookstore and try to find a copy of Footsore 4. If you drive to Orting, you can find spots to park and hike along the Carbon river.

South King County member here wink.gif I have spent most of this winter hiking in the Olympics (did the same when I lived up north also.....) I also snowshoe in the winter - a good way to get out. Get a copy of "Beyond Mt. Si"-it's a good start smile.gif

Thanks for the info- I've requested both books from the library. I do snowshoe, but I'm ready this year to be done!! As far as the Olympics go, any suggestions for the Eastern side? Otherwise it takes me too darn long to get there. (Although with Daylight Savings coming up, we're less limited- hooray!)

At this time of the year you could do: Mt. Walker (outside Quillicene) Mt. Zion (road is usually clear of snow and so is trail) Most of Mt. Townsend, especially if you start at the lower trailhead North Fork Skokomish River at Staircase-you can do at least 9 miles in Lower Lena Lake These are the obvious ones wink.gif Get yourself a copy of "DayHike! Olympics" by Seabury Blair, Jr. smile.gif
