I headed up to Oyster Dome today to take advantage of this weather break.
Starting from Chuckanut Drive, I climbed the PNT directly to the Dome then over to Lily Lake, the upper trail to Lizard Lake, back on the railroad grade to Lily and then down Max's Shortcut to the Samish Overlook, where I arrived just at the moment a hang-glider was taking off.
The trail was surprisingly dry, except for the usual muddy spots around the streams. There was no snow on the trail but a dusting on the trees at the top. There was a trace of snow on the ground between Lily and Lizard Lakes requiring some caution on the bridges.
I was enjoying a great view at the top when I reached for my camera and the clouds slammed in.

I met about a dozen people on the trail during the day. As I approached the overlook, the sun came out & was in my face all the way down to the car. The sunset was spectacular, but naturally my point-n-shoot camera battery was dead.
I've experienced that same curious camera/cloud interaction. Some sort of quantum explanation I fancy.
Anyway, redemptive photos of a familiar place, reminding me it has been too long since my last visit. Thanks Schroder.
Your battery is dead; long live your battery!
