Greetings!
I am a 50 year old male, moved recently to Yakima with my family, and am new to the state. I'm looking for anyone interested in possibly joining me for a nice moderately strenuous overnight backpacking trip, probably for the weekend after Labor Day, preferably in the William O. Douglas Wilderness, Wanatchee Forest, or possibly the Goat Rocks area (something not too far from home). Am very open to trail ideas, as I am unfamiliar with the area--your pick, as long as it isn't too brutal, as I am a bit out of shape. Would love to enjoy some great views in this gorgeous weather. The trail choices seem overwhelming. I've looked at a map, and water accessibility doesn't seem to be much of an issue. Looking for something maybe in the 10-12 mile round trip range. Thanks!
I'll definitely keep you in mind, I live in tri-cities. I'm planning on heading SE to the Wallowa's this weekend, but this is a perfect time to hike the Wm. Douglass area, as the mosquitoes should be dying off. I do not recommend that area in July. I'm 48, and very possibly close to your fitness level.
