Had a friend visiting from out of town who had never been to Wa St. and I wanted to take her on a nice hike and also one that I had never done. Thanks Matt Lemke for recommending this hike, I will say it was the nicest hike as far as scenery and trail conditions that I have ever been on, totally awesome!

nice pictures. I almost did this hike the day after you, but opted for blue lake after being up all night shooting stars.
Its locked for me for next year now after seeing your picks.

Thanks, yes I would rate this as a "must do hike" for everyone! The elevation gain was gradual and seemed much less to me than 7.5 miles. Plus I really liked the fact that it was a loop hike. Wondering what the name of this peak is behind me in the picture? It's pretty imposing, making Black Peak just to the right look small by comparison.

That's Corteo behind you I think. We saw you up there Tues. Recognized the old school "trekking poles"

An incredibly beautiful hike with minimal effort, a personal favorite love to be there.

Nice pictures, Chief.
You're definitely winning the stick contest. Looks like you could pole-vault with that thing...

Yea, it 'tis a bit long, yet still no match for the Gnomes 8' staff. He claims that it wears down to nothing in no time, I attach a metal end to mine so that doesn't happen.
A friend commented that the ideal length for a wooden staff is so that it just fits under your armpit, so if you injure your leg you can use it as a crutch.
Wooden staffs are far superior to man made graphite poles in so many ways. I found yet another advantage recently. While hanging out around my favorite lake, my hands became cold and rubbing my hands up and down the smooth wood warmed my hands up.
