Go placidly amid the noise and waste, and remember what comfort there may be in owning a piece thereof.

The DST change is one of the worst things ever. Nothing like getting off of work at 4:30 PM and it being completely dark. I'd rather wear fiberglass underwear than deal with it.

DST was the creation of retailers who sold more stuff with an extra hour of sunlight. Good luck getting rid of it. Big retailers are a powerful lobby.
Doesn't matter to me personally. Unless I have a court appearance, I control my clock these days.

When I lived in AZ the fact that they did not do DST always messed me up as we kept switching between two time zones. One week the football game is on at 11am and the next it was 10am. As well as with other shows that you would watch. And if I would call my parents in PA I always had to remember what time it was there (so I didn't call too late or too early or whatever).
And a few years ago when the changed the date of the time change, the biggest difference I notice is that it is now much lighter when trick-or-treating happens. Which seems plain wrong to me. (of course when I lived in TX, it seemed very wrong to be in shorts during Halloween)

A few inconvenient truths. I never understood the objection to DST as it made it possible to go on a longer hike without headlamps after work. It is not DST that makes it dark at 4:30 it is standard time. More daylight move South. In AZ the Navahos who have nearly half the state have DST.

As an evening person, my vote would be to abolish standard time altogether.
My friend who rows every morning at 4 feels the same way about DST.

I loathe daylight savings time.

My guess is that 90% of people would rather keep it standard time or DST all year round, but it will never get changed. I would really like to know why.

The only thing I really like about it is that school kids should not be navigating rainy streets in the dark.

Aha! But that's precisely why I object, because I prefer to get in some extra hours of hiking during the morning time-frame, so that I can get back home at a reasonable time (for a more harmonious household).
