Damian (one cool mo fo) and I were at loose ends for where to go, so I suggested Peggy's Pond and he said sure. We got to the trailhead in the early afternoon after chatting with a cool old forest ranger about where to get a parking pass. I'd forgotten mine, but there is a pay box at the TH now, pretty handy. We huffed it up to Squaw Lake, where we met a couple of cool Hi-Laker cats that were doing a little angling in their cool Curtis Rafts. We chatted briefly, and then had lunch down the way. Who should wander by but cool guy Godot, and his friend who he goes to IKEA, or does Aikido with, or something like that. We chatted about a mutual acquaintance and cool guy who's a backcountry ranger in the district and wondered if we'd run into him. Ahhnyway, we finally ditched those guys and then after a while we got to Peggy's Pond, admiring the outstanding views over to the basin that Circle lives in, its massive waterfall, and the kewl collapsed cabin right before Peggy's. Anyone got the story on that? We enjoyed a relaxing (cold) evening of Phad Thai, storytelling, and stargazing. Oh, and unsuccessful angling. shakehead.gif Sunday we rose to clear skies, had some Biscuits and Gravy, and wandered on out. Stopped at the Deception TH to leave a note for the cool man Slugman, who is currently Tucking and Robining, according to recent chatter. Stopped in Roslyn where we were served by cool local gal Blue Tuberosa, and found out that the cool forest ranger guy is one of her ROOMMATES!!! Small world, and full of cool people and things. One note: I have not been in that area in a while, and was saddened by the general beat-to-crap state of it all. It's very pretty, but needs some TLC. Tread lightly. up.gif

Cool. It was good to see you guys! Next time I'll have to join you for a beer instead of serving beer. Better yet join you on the trail. Better than that... meet up with you on the trail with cold beer in my pack. Cool.

The mozzies were not that bad, but I got eaten alive anyway, because if there is one mozzie anywhere, I get eaten alive.

ML I can't believe you went backpacking with that Damian guy. I see the words you're writing, but I feel the pain oozing from between them. You put on a good front. Chin up, hey?

When I staggered back to my car at 6:30 today, I though I had gotten a ticket or something eek.gif , only to find it was a friendly greeting from Marylou and Damian. up.gif A very thoughtful gesture, thanks. biggrin.gif I wondered where you guys had hiked, now I know. Nice pics, btw. How about that road? I'm thinking of sending the Forest Service a bill for the new front end my car now needs (joking). huh.gif With all the traffic that road gets, you'd think they could lay a couple dozen dump trucks of gravel on it. 50 minutes to go 10 miles is ridiculous.

What? The Slug complaining he can't move more quickly? lol.gif

Touron is a nougat of Arabic origin made with almonds and honey or sugar, without which it would just not be Christmas in Spain.
