We had an opportunity to finish up the last couple miles of trail #48 which makes its way along the west shore of Priest Lake in northern Idaho. The trail is about 9 miles long one way and extends from Outlet Bay to the Kalispell Bay marina. Lucky for us trail #48 runs right through our front yard along with many other summer homes on Luby Bay. We made our way north along a well established trail passing the many summer homes and shortly there after, Luby Bay campground. Once past the campground the trail continues for a short while before eventually hitting the west lakeshore road. The road walk is unpleasant but short, maybe 50 yards. Once back in trees the trail is great and continues its way along the shore before eventually ending at Kalispell Bay and the Marina where Robin and i shared a Gatorade before heading back. Round trip i would guess is 3-4 miles from Luby Bay, and maybe 50 feet of elevation gain, great walk on a great day. The views east toward the Selkirk Mountains on a clear day are spectacular.
