I may possibly in the near future need to make a delivery to Blaine.
Instead of just turning around and spending another 4 hours on I-5,
are there vehicle accessible campsite areas up there? ( prefer undeveloped, dispersed NFS areas ) I am in Tacoma, so there's a lot of distance in between. I am CLUELESS as far as anything north of I-90,
do not use campgrounds, and hate crowds. NPS land is fine, as I have a golden eagle pass to cover entrance fees. Fully capable of hauling a pack in a few miles, but not presently in condition to deal with a lot of vertical gain.
Just fishing for some helpful info here.

You're going to have to get quite a ways away from Blaine to find non-campground camping. I bet the closest area would be out the Mt. Baker highway past Deming. The whole flats between Blaine and Lynden, etc. is pretty well developed with farms and towns.

If you can stand to put up with a "developed" campground, Birch Bay State Park is nice. It's not too far off of I-5.

another option a bit farther down the road is at the Blanchard Hill DNR area. There are 2 likes about a 5 mile (gradual) hike in from the trailhead, they're horse camps, but there are separate areas for horsefolks, and tents,etc..
As far as i know, there' no fee to park there, camp there, etc.. and the lakes are really nice. There's a viewpoint just past Lily Lake that gives an astounding view of the San Juans and the Strait..
pm me if you'd like more info, i'll try and find the specific pdf link for the maps to the area on their site.
Oyster Dome is on the other side of the mtn... bit more of a hike than the other side though..
and all this is at the Bow exit from I-5, where that casino is in the middle of nowhere south of Bellingham..
kenya believe it??
