Define open and visible? The trail is clear of snow, there is not much of a trail it is following slight tread over and around rocks and following cairns. It is not an easy trail to hike, though it is a nice destination to get to.
Was up there earlier this week. The trail is extremely beaten down, to the point your hiking in trenches, and it is easy to follow and well marked....I even think there are plans for a Starbucks at the upper lake
